On October 15, Westhill science teacher, Mr. Stabile passed away after battling lymphoma. He taught physics, chemistry, and math at Westhill for 20 years as well as at J.M. Wright Technical High School and Norwalk Community College. Outside of school, he was an active member of the Greenwich Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

“Mr. Stabile seemed to know everyone. He helped with Aspiring Leadership Through Action Academy (ALTA), taught summer school, did curriculum work, and helped teach SAT sessions on the weekends. So many teachers and staff stopped by to speak about him and how he was such a helpful and friendly person.  He was fun loving in the sense that he rode the roller coasters at Six Flags on Physics Day, liked to ride his motorcycle to school when weather permitted, and would share his figs from his fig trees! He was always willing to pitch in and ask if I needed any help – he was just that way.  He will truly be missed in the building,” Ms. McNamara, Science Department Chair, said.

To honor Mr. Stabile, the Science Department collected $1,175 from the staff at Westhill and Stamford High to donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Mr. Stabile was a beloved teacher and will be greatly missed by the Westhill community.

Editor’s Note: There will be a memorial page dedicated to Mr. Stabile in the December print issue.
