This Friday, November 10th, the Westhill Vikings (6-2) will take on the Wilton Warriors (4-4) in a varsity football matchup. The teams will meet at Fujitani Field at 7:00pm. In their last game against Trumbull, the Vikings triumphed in a 29-21 win. The Westhill defense had a state record 16 sacks, while quarterback A.J. Laccona threw a majestic 56-yard pass to Noodles Metayer to take the lead in the late part of the fourth quarter.
“We expect nothing less than total anarchy in their stadium on Friday. It’s going to be an environment that you only get to play in a few times in your life,” said senior left tackle Jack Williamson. “We have to play our best game of the year,” he continued.
In Wilton’s last game, the Warriors were crushed by Darien 27-0. It was the 33rd win in a row for the Blue Wave. Darien forced a Wilton fumble at the 3 yard line, and from then on out, Wilton succumbed to the mighty defense of Darien.
“It’s going to be 20 degrees outside, other than that this is our make or break game that determines if we go to states” said senior Brycen Lyons. “Going to states would allow us to check off another goal attained from an amazing season,” he continued.
Head coach Frank Marcucio is excited to see his team play in another homecoming game. “Every game is important. We can only control what we can control” said coach Marcucio. “We have to cut down on the turnovers and need to [focus on] winning.”
