The Westhill-Stamford co-op Hockey team, or better known as the defending Division III state champions, return to action this Saturday when they take on Enfield and Granby-Stafford in the first official game of the season. The team already enjoyed a successful jamboree, where they were cheered on by hundreds of students and defeated rivals Trinity Catholic 4-1 in a very scrappy game.
Because of their championship from earlier this season, they have moved up to a Division II team. Westhill will have to rely on good goaltending from Chris Compolattaro, and a strong offense from Nick Rich, Cooper Healy, and Ryan Hart. Their schedule can’t get any tougher, as they play Darien, Greenwich, and St. Joes all within two weeks of each other. The challenge for the team will be to get off to a good start, especially against teams like Guilford and Wilton. Three plus goals a game will be extremely imperative for the 2016-2017 season.

“We welcome the challenge to get back to the Division II championships. The goal is to move up again, and continue to have more successful seasons” says goaltender John Kanaris (’18). “I’m most excited to play Darien. They are going to be a tough opponent, but all of us are down for the challenge.”
