On October 15, students were given the opportunity to donate blood to the Red Cross through an event hosted by the Interact Club. Those who wished to participate were assigned a specific time to head down to the freshman gym between the hours of 8:30 am and 1:00 pm, where they would then wait to be called upon by Red Cross staff members. Those who gave blood were 17 or older, and passed a series of brief health evaluations to ensure they were in the best possible position to be making a donation.
The Interact Club played a major role in trying to recruit students by passing sign up sheets around during lunch waves and hanging posters in various areas of the school. In total, 48 students were able to make donations. “It was pretty incredible to see how many people signed up for the sole purpose of doing a good thing. Twice a year, Interact comes together to save lives. We’re just proud to have made it happen,” senior Hannah Katz, president of the Interact Club, said.
