The Westword has recently been awarded Crown Finalist from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association based off of the 2017-2018 school year. Crown awards are the highest recognition given by the organization of judges consisting of journalists, former student publication advisers, and other media professionals.
There is no set number of Crown Awards given out each year.
The Westword will be attending the 95th annual CSPA Spring convention in March 2019, where they will find out the status of the crown award which will be gold or silver.
Each year, the Crown judges select examples from each publication to create reports on the winning schools. CSPA is asking The Westword for our March front cover, page 12 of the March issue, and page 3 of the February issue, which will be pictured below.
