At approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 7, at the intersection of Roxbury Road and Long Ridge Road, a school bus carrying students side-swept a silver Honda Civic that was being driven by Westhill graduate Nate Nogeuras ( 2010, age 20) and was carrying senior Cedric Nogeuras. As of the posting of this article, there were no reported injuries. Police were also present.
Several Westhill students on the “Early Bus” were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to assistant principal Mr. Ramos.
“We were at the stop sign just waiting, and the bus came from behind going really fast and side swept the car,” Cedric Nogeuras said.
Cedric was being picked up from school by his brother as he has early release seventh period.
The bus driver refused to comment to The Westword.
The students on the school bus were picked up by another bus after their information was taken by Westhill administration. Police arrived on the scene ten minutes after the accident according to the passengers of the car. At 2:31 p.m. a Newfield Service LLC tow truck came to tow the student’s car. A police officer is directing traffic around the accident.
Another school bus accident occurred June 1, that time on the Westhill campus, in which two students were injured when the bus lost control.
“We’ve had two bus accidents in the past six days, and I’m just very grateful that everyone’s okay,” Mr. Ramos said.
The Westword will continue to provide updates on the matter. (updated at 6:56pm)
