Administration responds to Hall tragedy

In the wake of the violent death of Marcus Hall (‘20), the administration is discussing ways to help students in need of counseling in support.

“Every adult in the building is caring and will get you where you need to go. We’re working with our social team, our school psychologists, and if it goes beyond that, Family Centers,” Stepkoski said.

Principal Rinaldi called all Westhill families last Friday to inform students and families that there would be a crisis team of trained personnel available to students and families on the following Saturday and that the school will continue to provide support. He did not name the student at that time because his name was not yet released to the public. The Stamford Advocate did not publish his name until the next day.

School psychologists and guidance counselors are available to help students in need in each buildings office any time during school.

Mr. Dunlap, the Junior class advisor, stated that details regarding service arrangements for Marcus Hall have not yet been made public by the family. He also stated that the school is working with the family to coordinate any in school memorials in order to respect their wishes.

Last night, Principal Rinaldi posted on his Instagram announcing the MarcUs for Change 5k Walk and Run in Mill River Park this Sunday, September 30. Westhill students, families, and staff will be participating in honor of Hall.
