Boys Basketball team looks to continue dominance

Carrying the momentum forward, Westhill boys Basketball seeks to have yet another successful season.  After falling just shy of a State Championship title to Fairfield Prep back in 2015, the vikings brought home back-to-back FCIAC championships defeating Norwalk in 2015 and Danbury in 2016. The newly appointed boys basketball captains, Tyler Lasicki (‘17) and Jake Dardis (‘17) look to live up to Westhill’s new standards.

Westhill will have to rely on returning starters; Tyler lasicki at point guard, J’ani Graham at center, and Jared Yaghoubian at shooting guard. Their experience and leadership will be key when it comes to their tough schedule, facing opponents Bridgeport Central, Norwalk, and Danbury all within a week of each other.

Seeking a City championship and revenge on rival Stamford High School who currently holds the title, the boys have a long way before facing off on February 20th on enemy territory. “Whether it’s the huge crowd or the rowdy student section, the different vibe fits for a good rivalry,” says Jake Dardis (‘17).

According to senior captain Tyler Lasicki, “This season we hope to prove that Westhill can still be a championship caliber team without any one particular star by playing sound team basketball.” In regards to making another run to the sun, “yeah that would be a great experience, but right now we’re focusing one game at a time.”
