On Saturday, November 14th at 1pm, Westhill will take on the St. Joseph Cadets in a varsity football matchup. The Vikings are entering the game with a record of 1-6, their latest loss coming off the Ridgefield Tigers match with a score of 45-7. The Cadets come in to the game with a record of 5-2, but lost there last game to Staples 28-20. Westhill’s defense could not stop Petros Papadapoulos, who kicked a 28-yard field goal and ran in a 5 yard score.

The Vikings have to be ready to put up big offensive numbers Saturday. St. Joes has outscored opponents 202-135 this season. Westhill has accumulated only 35 points in there last three games. There were a few bright spots on Saturday for Frank Marcucio’s Vikings, including a 45-yard touchdown pass from Carl Gedeon caught by Dan Hogan. The defense was wonderful in the first half, but could not stop the Tiger offense in the second half.

The Cadets were not happy with the result during their last game against Staples. They fell 28-20. St. Joes did make one last push before the game was over. With about 7 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, St. Joes drove 75 yards in just six plays to pull within a score on a 1-yard touchdown from Christian Trefz. “We couldn’t stop the run, we turned the ball over and we made very poor decisions all afternoon,” said St. Joseph coach Della Vecchia.

“Westhill needs to play a full 48 minutes not just one good half. If they can limit turnovers and find a way to slow down the Cadets, they could stay within striking distance” said Stamford Advocate writer Scott Ericson. Make sure to arrive to the game early for the senior day ceremonies.
