On Saturday, November 7th at 2pm, Westhill will take on the Ridgefield Tigers in a varsity football matchup. The Vikings come in to the game with a record of 1-5, there latest loss coming to the Trinity Crusaders.  The Tigers come in to the game with a 4-2 record and with a win against Bridgeport Central last Saturday. The Vikings will look to stop quarterback Drew Fowler and wide receiver Chris Longo, who, caught three touchdown passes in a game against Staples earlier this season.

The Vikings offense showed up against Trinity this past Saturday but it was not enough. Carl Gedeon threw a touchdown pass of 34 yards to Dan Hogan and 15 yards to Mekhi Barnett. The Vikings scored a season high 28 points in the rivalry game at Trinity. “I think we need to control the ball on offense and be able to score early” said defensive coordinator Joey DeVellis. “Big plays have hurt us these last two weeks. If we eliminate those, and tackle well, I think we will be very competitive” he said.

Westhill’s defense has to be able to intercept the ball Saturday. “We know that we like to throw the ball a lot” said Ridgefield Head Coach Joe Arcieri. Ridgefield will play Greenwich and Danbury to finish off the regular season. The Vikings continue their homestand against St. Joes on November 14th at 1pm. A win Saturday would be the first one for Westhill since September 12th. Before that, there last home win was October 18th of 2014.
