Print correction: Athlete Aaron Pettiford’s award nomination

Photo courtesy of Aaron Pettiford // Senior Aaron Pettiford has shown incredible strength as a first string running back on the Vikings football team despite his health condition.

Senior Aaron Pettiford has distinguished himself as a talented football player throughout his sports career at Westhill.  Pettiford became interested in pursuing football in the 5th grade, and has been involved in the sport ever since.

Three years ago, Pettiford was diagnosed with Focal segmental glomeruloscerosis, indicating that his kidneys were growing weaker and weaker as time passed.  Dedicated to moving forward and pursuing his passion, Aaron has surpassed all expectations and continued to represent Westhill out on the field.

Pettiford was featured in our October print issue as a standout athlete, and especially for his nomination for “The Heart of The Giant” Award.  We made the mistake of running a headline that indicated that Pettiford had won the award.  Winners will not be announced until late November, but you can still show support for Aaron by voting for him online.  Voting ends on November 11.  Click here for more information.
